((I'm too lazy to write narrative so I'm just going to write a transcript haha. This is Alfonso, Tobias, and eventually Rafael, when the former two stepped outside after the confrontation with Anthony))
Alfonso: *continues leading Tobias through the house, not stopping until they're past the threshold of the front door--which he closes once it's behind them--and a few yards down the driveway* *finally stops, releases Tobias's elbow, and roughly nudges him aside so they're face to face* This is going to stop, Tobias. Do you understand me?
Tobias: Anthony's the one who's starting sh!t all the time..
Alfonso: I don't care what Anthony's starting. It's not your job to end it. Or Rafael's. You both are adults. Almost 22 and 20.
Tobias: Why are you always taking his side!
Alfonso: I'm not taking anyone's side. Anthony was wrong for bringing up whatever it was he brought up--
Tobias: --Raf's fraternity thing.
Alfonso: Irregardless of what it was, it clearly upset the two of you, and it was wrong. However, this is neither the time or place for a confrontation like that. This is Thanksgiving. The Conelli's kindly invited us over to share the holiday with them. We're guests in their house, even if we are like family, so we'll respect them and their house. Got it?
Tobias: *hmph* *moistens his lips and crosses his arms* So what, I'm just supposed to let him walk all over Raf like that?
Alfonso: Is this really about Rafael, Tobias? I don't think it is.
Tobias: Hey, I'm not the one who holds grudges that are like.. ten years old. You know Anthony hates me. But now he doens't have sh!t on me, so he's hating on Rafael. But he's just trying to get to me.
Alfonso: Anthony is protective of his siblings. He doesn't care for you because you're close with Luca. He doesn't care for Rafael because he's dating Gabi. He's wrong on both counts, of course, but we can't force him to change his feelings.
Tobias: *rolls his eyes some*
Alfonso: He doesn't want Gabi getting into trouble, in the same Luca got into trouble.
Tobias: Luca didn't do anything he didn't want to do. It's not like I held a gun to his head.
Alfonso: I'm sure that's true. But Anthony is Anthony. He has a one-track focus. It's the marine in him. If he doesn't feel right about something, he'll stick to those feelings until kingdom come. *smiles some* You just have to learn to live with it.
Tobias: Well I was learning to live with it until he started raggin' on Rafael.
Alfonso: Let Rafael fight his own battles, Tobias. He'll never learn to assert himself otherwise. I don't like to see him getting bullied around anymore than you do. But I can't continue to hold his hand through life. Sooner or later, he's got to call the shots.
Tobias: And now you two aren't even talking, so...
Alfonso: *frowns just a wee bit* I made my decision, and Rafael made his. I didn't approve of him staying with the fraternity, and let him know I wouldn't be assisting him in paying the dues. He decided the fraternity was right for him, though, and is paying the dues from his own pocket. He didn't want our help in cleaning his records, so now he's doing community service--which I admire, of course. There's no doubt about that. I've learned that sometimes, you have to let your kids do things their way. The might get burned by the fire now and then, but you have to have faith they'll come back. You, of all people, taught me that, Tobias.
Tobias: *smirks slightly* Yeah, well.. too bad we couldn't skip over all the overdoses and jail sentences, right?
Alfonso: *shakes his head* You're doing good. Don't let Anthony provoke you. He says those things to get on your nerves, Tobias. Just let them past. Do your own thing. You have Tobi now. You can't afford to be throwing the same punches you threw when you were a teenager.
Tobias: *looks up when he hears footsteps and watches Rafael approach them* *smirks* Hey, "frat boy".
Rafael: *rolls his eyes some and sighs* *glances to Alfonso* *...eh* *moistens his lips* *softly* Sorry about that. Anthony started it.
Tobias: See? *looks to Alfonso, crooking a thumb at Rafael*
Alfonso: Let's just try to enjoy the rest of the evening, all right? Tobias, stay with Luca. Rafael, stay with Gabi. There's no reason you two need to cross paths with Anthony. I'd like it if we had a peaceful holiday.
Tobias: Your first Thanksgiving with us since you're back, ol' man. *smirks and pats Alfonso's back as they turn to head back up the driveway* And we're already putting gray hairs on your head.
Alfonso: *smirks slightly and shakes his head* Don't remind me. *stops, though, when he doesn't see Rafael beside them* *turns his head over his shoulder* Rafael, are you coming?
Rafael: *pockets his hands and lingers behind* *mm* Dad, do you...are you like.. ashamed of me? Of what I did..?
Alfonso: *frowns* Rafael, you know I'm not ashamed of you. I'm disappointed, of course, in the poor decision you made. Grand theft auto isn't something future employers will overlook. But you're working toward making up for it.
Rafael: It's just... well, Mr. Conelli kind of sounded disappointed about it all when he was talking to Anthony back there, and.. I guess I can't imagine how.. much more so.. you are.
Alfonso: *sighs some and walks over to Raf* *puts his hands on Raf's shoulders* Rafael. You're a good kid. You have a good heart, and a good head on your shoulders. Don't think this mistake has made me think any less of you. You're still my son. I'm still proud of all the things you've accomplished, and all the things you're going to accomplish through this engineering program. I might not be happy about you staying with the fraternity, but you're an adult, and it's time for you to make your own decisions, to decide what's right for you. I can only stand beside you and offer my support and counsel. *gives him a quick hug and pats his back* Like I told your brother. Don't let Anthony get to you. Anthony's been trained to undermine the enemy.. *smirks*.. He doesn't have a Middle East to fight against anymore, so I think he's taken you and Tobias under his wings as personal at-home practice. *chuckles some* But we all know that you're one of the best among our families.
Tobias: *smirks* Our little Virgin Mary, so to speak...
Alfonso: Tobias..
Rafael: *rolls his eyes and smirks slightly* Great..
Alfonso: *chuckles* Come on. Dinner's about to begin. *pats Raf's back again and leads him up the driveway* Best behavior, boys.
Tobias: Sir, yes sir. *smirks*
Rafael: *laughs softly and walks with his dad and brother back into the house*
Alfonso: *continues leading Tobias through the house, not stopping until they're past the threshold of the front door--which he closes once it's behind them--and a few yards down the driveway* *finally stops, releases Tobias's elbow, and roughly nudges him aside so they're face to face* This is going to stop, Tobias.
